Working in an environment where the non-spreading of bacteria could be the thin red line between surviving and sepsis, the individuum loses its recognizability behind scrubs and mask and hood.
With my project “Detaching the hood” I try to picture the visual loss of individuality in a community where the individual struggle dealing with death is not only omnipresent but also quintessential – not only for the individuum but for the whole community. Wearing scrubs, mask, and hood, all look alike, uniformed. But what’s making this community so strong is its potpourri of characters which come to light once the hoods are detached.
